I have had surgery on my breasts 3 times.

Braces for the third time right now.

3 other surgeries.

Wear contacts.

Go tanning (once a week at most).

Get my natural nails done.

Want to get my teeth whitened when the braces are off again.

-----------

So answer, AND THEN read the following. Does this make you feel any different??

I had a very very severe breast assymetry since I was in middle school. I waited until I was 21 for my surgery. Then 22. Then 23. One breast was completely different and hanging down. They other had no breast tissue. I looked like a freak.
The other 3 surgeries were ORAL surgeries to pull teeth down that were in the roof of my mouth. without that and braces I would look like a jackolantern, literally. My teeth keep moving and are painful because I got bad teeth from both parents. I want to whiten them because I've put thousands (from me and my parents) into them already and coffee has stained them.

I tan as a way to relax and get sun

to answer one person's question I had the other two surgeries because we had to reconstruct an entire breast as the first surgery and do lipo, remove and reattach the nipple like an apple core, etc. they were still so diff they put an implant in one side. Then healed kind of wrong. my dr did the 3rd surgery free to remove scar tissue & fix me. She said it honestly was a horrible case of assymetry. 2 boobs from 2 very diff people on 1 body.
I should also note that I personally worked my butt off to lose 44 lbs the natural way. So I worked hard for that. Paid $12K in breast reconstruction & anesthesia. And around/over $12K total from my parents and me for the 3 oral surgeries and 3 sets of braces. So I was by no means handed any of this.
Thank you for all of your insights!

What difference does it make to you what others think. What is important is what you think and feel. If you are happy with yourself and with the descisions you make in your life, then you are doing alright. You don't have to be a people pleaser and you don't have to concern yourself with other peoples issues.

Just remember, if you stand with one foot on yesterday, and one on tomorrow, then you are probably pissing on today.

If you hadn't provided the second bit of information then I might've said yes, but given the situation I'd say you're no more superficial than most people. If having these surgeries and doing these things makes you feel better, then that's all that matters. Besides, it's not like you got breast surgery because you just wanted bigger boobs. You had a decent reason.

I feel like that is a bit overboard, but who cares? It's your choice. I haven't been in your situation, so I don't know how you felt. Why did you need three breast surgeries, though? If you needed to even out your breasts in order to feel better, that's fine. But the other two seem excessive. And many people tan. I don't, and I don't think it's healthy or even important, but it's your choice. Maybe you are superficial, maybe not. I can't really judge without knowing you.

It's doesn't really sound overboard when you know the reasons why...but before I read it, I thought yeah overboard.
You know, I desperately would love to have a boob job, I just cant afford it...every time I get some money saved , I end up using it for something my kids need. Oh well!!! Someday...hopefully before I am 40 lol.
I hope that once your braces are finished..you can find that you are satisfied.....may you look in the mirror and feel beautiful!!!

You know if you feel good about your decisions, then who cares what others think. We live in a vain society but I think you have valid reasons for your surgeries. As far as tanning and taking time for yourself for relaxation, be careful with the amount of rays you get but relax as much as you can cause this world can be so hectic so much of the time.

It sounds to me like you are making decisions that are going to make you feel better about yourself as a person. I probably would have done everything you did (with the exception of the tanning). Go ahead and have your teeth whitened when you are ready, it sounds like they need it.

I dont think you are superficial, I think you just want to look nice and maintain what you have , I wouldnt go to overboard though, also you need to remember just to love you for you too,I Do some of the simialr things you do, though there are days when I just want to relax and get tired of being miss perfect or trting to be,and just be me, and you just be you, I am sure you are a beautiful lady
