I have just recently bought a millipede. Yes, you read that right, a millipede. I was just wondering if anyone else owns this remarkable pet and, if so, have any advice for me?! I have noticed that he has pincer-looking things on his face, and he nibbles on me occasionally. I have looked at websites and they say that they are relatively harmless, so then what is he doing to me!? It feels very odd, and slightly uncomfortable!

I had two... one was Maximilian and Mini Maximilian...they were kool but they did not last very long... I usto feed them lettuce...Sometimes they would eat it and sometimes they went on a hunger strike..It was creepy.. they would walk across your arm,,Like wind blowing on there arms...My friends thought they were cool...They only live a short time and they crap a brown substance..Have fun with them they are only BUGS.... so they have a short life span in captivity..Good Luck And GOD BLESS B.E.N.

I have never owned one, but dealt with them extensively when I worked in a pet store, and I even found some wild ones in my house...:)
He is probably just exploring you with his antennae and mouthparts. Feeling and tasting you. He won't hurt you, but make sure you don't surprise it. Millipedes will give off a poisonous goo or gas that won't hurt you but it's very itchy and smells horrible.
Good luck!!!

wow thats cool.. we have pet Northern Walking Stick Insects (which are legal where we are but not everywhere) they just eat lettuce and apple leaves...
I have seen and held the big millipedes but never known where you can buy them.. have fun.. my guess is he/she is just testing to see if you are food or not.. or testing to see where it is at...like for scent trails maybe?

thats cute. i think it means it likes you or maybe trying to get your smell or maybe it its trying to know you (since it is just new)! See when a dog likes you it kinda like nibles and licks you.
Thats a very cute pet. I had a pet catterpillar and it only stayed with me for one day =(. It got lost because it likes to creep on everything.

I thought these things were food for species higher up the food chain. Are you sure you didn't get conned on your new pet?
