The difference is, Micks, and the like were not persecuted as the African Americans were, I can't think of another word as hateful as n#gger, except F@ggot. I know many African Americans hate the comparison, but it's true. I don't think there is any excuse for the language he used, and I don't think he had any just cause for using it. The word, when used by any other than a black man, clearly promotes hate

I wonder what people's fascination with this word is and attempting to justify its use because someone else uses it. Its alot like if somebody jumps off a bridge, are you going to follow?? Also, I grew up in NYC and their are alot of ethnic groups that use words to describe themselves that are exclusive to them, why no big question as to why Irish, Italians, or any other group call themselves micks, or guineas? Would you go up to a group of Italian gentleman and start dropping the "g" word, or go to an Irish bar and begin calling everyone the "m" word, I think not Why?? It has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with doing something foolish that could get you physically hurt. So, like I have heard a thousand times today you do have freedom of speech and if you want to call someone the "n" or any ethnic or racial slur, go right ahead, but chose your choice of location wisely.

I think his comments were absolutely disgusting. The n-word has very negative connotations. If everyone knew the historical meaning behind the word, I think it would offend everyone. I don't think his comments were bound by free speech. There are exceptions to every rule. No one should be put down by another - period. It's no different than children being teased by other kids. Words DO hurt. I think Michael Richards, in the heat of the moment, revealed what his thoughts REALLY are. No one could possibly convince me that the came up with those comments off the top of his head because he was angry. He's supposed to to be a professional comedian and should, after years in the business, be able to effectively handle hecklers in the audience. In no way am I defending the hecklers either. If they were not satisfied with his stand up routine, they could have simply left without saying a word. I think both sides were wrong in the way they handled the entire situation. And for some audience members to sit there and chuckle at Michael's comments was even more upsetting. Michael's comments, in my opinion, were NOT acceptable. And those who are okay with what he said are even more disgusting than he is.

okay, so it definitely is not his best moment...

i'm sure he's not a racist, he just got carried away. but i'm sure if the hecklers didn't heckle him, those comments would never have come out. just the heat of the moment; nonetheless, poor taste.

so maybe they're both to blame.

anyway, i heard that the main heckler is seeking some sort of compensation for embarrassment and emotional damage. you've got to be kidding me. if you're gonna heckle someone, be prepared to get heckled back. if the person you heckle brings it back, then you have to take it.

so kramer could get his feelings hurt and he has to apologize and he's made into a public fool. but the heckler gets his feelings hurt and he gets to bring a lawsuit on michael richards.

jesus...what an f'd up world we live in...

Kramer apologized on Letterman tonight. I really think he feels bad for what he said not just because it was caught on tape. He seemed sincere.

I am shocked that he said those things. But he is entitled to do what ever he wants. Even if it is ignorant.

I think he was angry because they told him he wasn't funny; so he felt offended, and lost his temper; and got carried away.

I think it is disgusting. He should be made to do community service to really show he is sorry.
