I think a younger Harrison Ford (as in Han Solo/Early Indiana Jones years) would have been a good choice as well. We actually had a meeting of my Movie Club the other night, and a lot of us said the same thing. Tom Hanks wasn't bad, but he was definitely lacking something in this role.

Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the book, and he came more to mind when I found out that they were doing a movie than Tom Hanks. With Tom Hanks, I think about Cast Away and Sleepless In Seattle.

i could first opt for to state that Tom Hanks is a astonishing and proficient actor, yet Harrison Ford suits the profile of Robert Langdon. Harrison Ford is only too previous although for the function.

I don't think Tom Hanks was right for the part but Harrison Ford would have been worse. I don't think he's a very good actor, his characters are always very one-dimensional.

That's an interesting thought--I thought Hanks was good--but Harrison Ford would have been good, too. Although it would have been an Indiana-Jones-like quest...

George Clooney probably would have been an interesting choice, too.

Somebody else said that to me but I disagree. If you have read the books you can tell that he is supposed to be a younger man. I think Ford would have been a little too old for it. I would think more along the lines of Johnny Depp or Ewan McGregor.

Obviously the writer thought so

"Langdon forced an awkward smile. He knew what came next--some ridiculous line about "Harrison Ford in Harris tweed"--and because this evening he had figured it was finally safe again to wear his Harris tweed and Burberry turtleneck, he decided to take action."

I loved The Da Vinci Code.
I don't want to see Harrison Ford in it. He won't look good in it

They are both way too old for the role. The role calls for a fortyish ex olympic class swimmer. I am thinking Val Kilmer, Pat Dempsey, or Rob Lowe. If you read Angels and Demons the description of the hero is pretty defined.
