let put it like this:
if your both living in state "A" and he moves to state "B" and files you have to (if you want to be there for the court hearings) attend the divorce hearing in the state he files in, and the same for you if your the 1st to file. remembering that the one who is the fasted filing the papers will save $$$ on gas.

I was recently divorced, although I was married in another State. These days it only has to go to court if there are children under the age of 18 involved. if this is the case it will be held where the divorce is filed. ie if your husband files for Divorce in his state then that is where it will be held. I would suggest getting a good lawyer or filing for Divorce before your husband in your own state. I filed for divorse in my state and it was held here.
Contact your local legal aid they have free advice seminars available to everyone. hope this helps

the divorce will be in the state you got married in. you don't have to be present, like someone else said, but believe me you want to be there. some issues might come up that your lawyer isn't prepared for. make sure your lawyer is well informed and if this divorce is a sticky situation, you'll definitely want to be there to make sure you get what you want (or at least what you deserve). good luck hun!

well, i think that just like you are married in one state say michigan and then you move to say ohio then you are still considered married. if you are seperated and he moved to another state then hopefully he contacted a lawyer to file papers, but i am sure it is legit. like you can get married anywhere, i am sure you can get divorced anywhere. (unless there are specific rules pertaining to state laws that may be a bit more anal regarding a law referring towards divorce.) get a lawyer, check it out yourself.

If he's filing for the divorce you don't have to be there... just your lawyer --- I wasn't present for mine but my lawyer was.
