I use the ethernet port on my modem to connect my computer. I have an extra USB cable. I was wondering if I have to have the LAN adapter specific to the Wii or if I can just make a direct connection into the USB port on my modem or even one on my computer.

The Wii can use either WiFi or a broadband connection. My Wii uses WiFi because my house has it. I am not sure if using USB will work, but there will definatly be a way to make your Wii connect through a broadband connection

im not really sure but i think the Wii operates on a Wi-fi connection, thats why its comes with a 24/7 internet feature, but i cant be 100% positive, like if u mean to download ur music into it, well i guess u might have to connect it to ur computer
