I just took a dollar bill to the bank that I'd had for years. I always thought if you had more than half they'd exchange it. She said they want to see at least a couple of the serial numbers on the torn side. Which mine didn't have. She still exchanged it though.

Three fifths for full value
Between 2 and 3 fifths - Half Value
Two fifths or less - No Value

If you have a damaged bill you should take it to the bank immediately and exchange it, they will take it out of circulation.

The serial number...It is is too damaged you can turn it into a bank that sends it back to the federal reserve..

if both the serial numbers are readable then chances are you still have a full value

half the bill is worth half the value. You need both serial #'s to get the full amt.
