Well deserved he would know better than anyone the time to leave is when you decide there is nothing worse than seeing a champion at the end of their career not knowing when to give up. We love you Thorpedoe and in the words of the great Slim Dusty "YOU DONE US PROUD"

He is absolutely brilliant in the pool but he has been swimming for a long time that I think he needs to live a somewhat normal life - if that is possible.

I hope we can find a close replacement before the next Olympics as I just love the battle in the pool between the Australians and the Americans.

We will miss him.Ian obviously has a different agenda.For him that's the one that counts.He has served his country well and I for one wish him every success for the future Thank-you Ian

he is not in peak form, so it was a natural move on his behalf, besides i think he wants a less public profile, and who can blame him.
