When the last Robotech fleet left Earth, Admirals Rick Hunter and Lisa Hunter (Lisa Hayes married Rick before they left Earth) were in charge of the fleet. They were joined by the micronized Zentraedi, in a combined effort to go find the Robotech Masters and defeat them. Along the way, they had kids - both human children, and Zentraedi children - who were mutated by Protoculture. These super kids were the ones who actually made the engines disappear from the first SDF-1, using their incredible mental powers to pull the engine through space and time to defeat a trap in time and space that they had been captured inside of. This occurred sometime around the Invid Invasion, but I'm not totally sure, it's been ages since I read all the novels. If you look for the Robotech paperback novels, there's about 15 or so in all, you can get the complete story, including the Macross Saga, Southern Cross, the Robotech Masters, The Invid Invasion - all of it.

That's kinda a long and complicated answer.
First of all, Robotech is a combination of 3 separate anime series that were cobbled together to form the Robotech storyline.
Macross - which is the one we all know and love, and contains the characters Rick Hunter, Max Sterling, Lisa Hayes and so on, basically ended after Khyron's death.
Southern Cross was another anime series that was combined with Macross to create the Robotech series, and the lynch pin to that was Dana being Max and Miriya's daughter. (Which she really wasn't originally.)
Then you've got Genesis Climber MOSPEADA which became The New Generation with Scott Bernard and company. That was a totally separate cartoon that had NOTHING at all to do with Macross or Southern Cross, but it was re-written and re-edited so that Scott became part of Rick Hunter's Expeditionary Force sent back to Earth to fight the Invid.
Carl Macek, the writer at the time when Harmony Gold (the company) bought the rights to Macross was given the task to combined these 3 different cartoons together so that there would be enough episodes for syndication.
Macross only had about 25 episodes. They were required to have at least 75 episodes (I think), and ended up with the 80 or so episodes that ultimately became known as the Robotech series.
You might be able to find out more by going to www.robotech.com, or by doing a search on Wikipedia for either Robotech and Anime.
I hope that helps.

You can look at these to see more of Rick Hunter and learn where he is :
- the OVA Robotech Flashback 2012. It is a musical video with some of the best songs from the series.
- the movie Robotech Sentinels. If I remember correctly he is inside.
- you can read the comic/manga : Robotech Prelude The Shadow Chronicles
- or wait next year to see the new movie Robotech The Shadow Chronicles
We know from the 3rd series that he went into space with a fleet. The last two tells this part.

After the zentradi war Rick Hunter was put in charge of the REF (Robotech Expeditionary Force) consisting of two new SDF ships. A contingent of this force, but not Hunter, returned to Earth to fight the Third Robotech War (Scot Bernard, Lug, Lancer, Rand etc). The rest went in search of the Invid homeworld accompanied by the zentradi who are now allies and destroy it. Rick married Lisa Hayes. That's about it Novels of what was supposed to become a fourth series were publised about 20 years ago but finding them could prove tricky.

I don't think we ever saw the expeditionary force in the final series, it was just known that Rick Hunter was leading it.
A great alternate version of the story was the movie "Macross: Do you Remember Love" - the whole nature of who the Zentradi were and why they were fighting was different. Obviously a 2-hour movie doesn't have anywhere near the depth of storyline that 25 episodes of the series had, but it's still highly recommended!

Unfortunately you are right. Noncompliance with laws in the part of Greeks and also inability of the Greek forces to enforce the nonsmoking law, cause all this unpleasant situation with smoking everywhere in Greece. Greeks have been known to smoke.... a lot. Since there is a strong ban in USA and other European countries against smoking (due to the well known and widespread correlation of smoking and lung cancer and other severe lung diseases) the tobacco companies have turned their campaign to countries where enforcement is minimal or nonexistent. So the tobacco companies push their products in Greece where Greeks are still having the image of "oi ksipnoi kapnizoun Marlboro" "ela ston topo tis kseniasias me ena camel" etc ( meaning the ads are really working for them, they think they are in when they puff away). Nobody talks about the 60 yo with lung or emphysema on those ads, they all push the image of the care free healthy rider with a Marlboro. (I bet they don't even know the guy in the ad died of lung cancer). Anyway, the point here is that the tobacco comps are getting richer and Greeks die of severe and incurable diseases early on without any attempt by anyone in power to put a stop to it. Maybe it is time NOW for the politicians to do something about it? For the sake of the next generation we all ought to do something
