animals that are kept outside will grow a winter coat in winter, starting in the fall when it begins to get cold. If he is kept in the house all the time this may interfere with that. just be sure that your dog has good shelter (point the dog house opening away from the wind) wind chill is the worst. make sure he has water all the time and its not frozen, and good food that will keep him healthy. cheap stuff doesn't provide all the protein, vitamins and minerals that your dog my need. Make sure he is wormed to. the worms can cause alot of problems in an animal.

Sure he can as long as he doesn't have any health problems. I had a golden retreiver years ago and so did my cousins, both were outside dogs. He just needs an insulated dog house, maybe some hay or something in the bottom that he can lay on so he's not laying on the cold ground and even better would be a warm doggie coat. If he has those things, he'll be fine.

It depends on where you live...he shouldn't go in temperatures below 40 degrees, but I wouldn't recommend below 50 or he might get cold...if you do put him/her outside, you should be sure that he has a little doggie house and some warm blankies to snuggle up with so that he doesn't get cold...also make sure it has a little something to block it off from major cold areas...maybe it should have a little doggie door to seal it up but so that he/she can still go outside...that's what I recommend. But I'd say the very best thing to do would be to keep him inside, but that's extremely inconvenient for most people, especially with such a big dog...good luck!!! He/she must be adorable (I loooooove golden retrievers)!

If you mean to leave it outside overnight, I wouldn't recommend it. There is no way to know when the temperature will dip to be too cold and it could kill you dog. Depending on where you live, it could also be considered animal cruelty to do that.
There is also other things besides weather to worry about. Food for wild animals become scarce, so they will attack people's pets more often in winter time. It's just safer and smarter to leave your dog indoors at night...
Obviously letting the dog out during the day with supervision is fine.

It is required by law that you provide the animal food, water and shelter all year long but especially in the winter. On a more personnal basis, I think that leaving a PACK ANIMAL outside rather than inside with the rest of the pack is pure torture.

yes, but just make sure he has access to food, water, and shelter at all times. make sure he has a little doggy house or some kind of roof over his head with walls around him where he can go if he gets too cold. many people also leave their dogs out in the daytime, and bring them in to sleep in a crate in the house at night...so that's an option too.

No! If you leave your dog outside in the winter(where it is cold) He/she might freeze if it gets too cold. Let your dog stay inside if you care about your dog.
