Old or new Indian leaders have done their best to stand the India among 5 bigs.Now we have to get rid off our habit to depend on our leader or government to do every thing for us. After 50 years of Independence we should be educated enough to elect our leaders among our people not from the Professional Election Fighter.We should truly elect the Govt. from the common people for the common people. Second and most important thing is to Chang our social behaviour. We have to look behind 50 years in the past even we were poor and ruled by others but our social harmony was intact. We were happy with our little means. There was no racism no cast ism no favour ism among common people and we were very thought full about others needs.In short if anything could be done for people of India that will be done only by the people of India nither by the leaders of India not by any foreign nation.

I can't find them anywhere in India even with the help of powerful binoculars.
I meant those true leaders who can inspire the masses on a particular issue of importance in the perspective that is social, political, moral, or some or other issue that is personal to their lives or collective conscience of the nation and its masses, so that they should automatically follow the leader with conviction and confidence throwing their full might towards the goal in question. The agenda should in real terms be capable of transforming the nation lock, stock and barrel, let that be clean roads, protected water, good sanitation, uninterrupted power and lighting, access to some decent primary health facility, easier, cheaper and effective mass rapid transport system, speedier administration of day-to-day grievances, (One wonders but these are after all taken for granted in most developed countries, where unfortunately in India these are given step-motherly treatment and people are not wanting them that badly to be implemented through their elected leaders and the same are abandoned by everybody as unachievable tasks).Secondary goals are raising the standard of living towards healthy and happy life. Third is equitable distribution of Gross wealth of the nation among all sections.
In India both the leaders and the led are grossly insensitive to the basic requirements of good life for the masses leave alone other important causes.
I suggest Indian leaders are given some strange incentives (as those self driven lot are a passé since Gandhi, JP, et al.) like free funding for electioneering and good salaries even for the political posts and a secure life to the contesting leaders and their dependents, and
Disincentives like recalling them from positions for bad governance.
We can expect then for some improvement other than the one that is driven by the proxy fallouts of Globalization activities in software, finance and certain service sectors industries.

1. Good physical fitness.
2. Good education in accordance with the position applied for.
3. Published & known summary background of individual, if not a CV or resume - justifying the position applied for.

5. Known previous affiliations and unbiased attchment to any other personal or communal interests.
6. Limitations of term & position - with respect to rights, duties, obligations.
7. Ultimately answerable to public - through Jury, if all other reporting channels fail.
8. Transparency of public office dealings, as much as possible.
9. Oath to maintain the integrity of the nation and its people in a unified and cohesive manner irrespective of gender, cast, colour or creed.
10. Net worth accumulation rules relative to joining office and leaving office ( If one has not filed an income tax return - then he / she is not eligible ). Even if income is zero and is not required to file a retun at the time of joining.
