i love ugly betty and i love devil wears prada but i found to many similarities between the show and the movie...the part where she goes to the office and the girl says are you here for a before and after? then about the "book" and so on...do you think its too much alike? ugly betty is from betty la fea a mexican series. how could it be that they have so much in common?

I assumed that Ugly Betty was modeled after "The Devil wears Prada". I find it to be obvious. I liked the movie better.
Doesn't it seem that Betty will eventually get a makeover and no longer be ugly?

"Ugly Betty," is the american version, so it won't have the same similarities as Betty la fea. I think the show wants to capture all sorts of viewers. I haven't seen, "The Devil Wears Prada," but it looks like they are getting ideas from the movie. I think it is a good thing because it would be a cliche like all the spanish shows potray Betty la fea, who falls for her boss. And also most all spanish soaps are all predictable. Which getts really boring.

Yeah you are right there is a similarity between the 2. But if watch Hindi tv series 'Jaisi, Jassi Koi Nahin' then you would call ugly Betty a rip off. Now between those 2 there is a real resembles.

I thought it was a take-off of the Devil movie. It's the same idea but Anne Hathaway got pretty and hip where Betty is just being Betty.
