Pros:
a bunch more relaxed people

Cons:
another thing for the gov't to tax
increased car accidents
even more people not caring about anything but themselves
more overweight people
logistics problems to when and where it is legal

In other words it is an unintelligent thing to do.

I think it should be legalized and taxed. The tax alone would probably wipe out the national deficit in 3 years. Legalization would also free up prison space so that child molesters could be sentenced to jail instead of probation. Marijauna plants can be used for fuel, clothing, etc., so I actually don't see a downside.

If Prohibition in the 1920's can be used as a reference, then legalizing marijuana will actually benefit society.

Why? If pharmacies carried it, sales on the street would greatly decrease. Crime lords, gangs, and the mob would lose a considerable amount of their income, because marijuana users would be able to buy it legitimately. Prohibition created the mafia in America, because they controlled alcohol sales. Despite its illegal status, alcohol was drunk more then than it is now. Once the initial group of idiot drug-addicts and dumb kids realize that it's not as rebellious to smoke weed as it was when it was illegal, the demand will drop and marijuana will be sold no more than cigars.

Yes...the pros are that it could be sold, taxed and distributed legally, removing it as a street drug and saving lives as a result--and its way safer than alcohol.
Cons...more stoned people, but you treat it as you would if it were more drunk people. I'd rather be around stoners myself.
Oh...and its one less thing for cops to "protect us from", which might result in lay-offs at the DEA and other departments.

No. I think the federal government should back off and let each state decide if marijuana should be legal. Having each state pass their own marijuanna laws would quickly bring to the surface the best policy on marijuana.

Yes, I think MJ is more likely a 'gateway crime' than a 'gateway drug'. If access and prices were regulated like cigarettes it would greatly reduce if not eliminate the crime associated with it. the down side is that some kids, who's only road block to blazing is the criminal factor would light up.

Yes, there is no good reason for it to be illegal

Look at alcohol prohibition. It led to the mob and all that organized crime

Now look at marijuana prohibition. It has led to drug dealers and cartels. Lets legalize it and be done with it. Those who wanna smoke will smoke, and smoke anyways, and those who don't don't have to. Easy enough

i dont do weed. never have. but, i think it should be legalized for several reasons. age wise they can try and control who buys it, i realize they try with cigs and beer etc and arent always successful but they can try.
it can be taxed. they can make you test for it after a car wreck or weird driving violation like drunken driving. it would seriously cut back on some issues in south america because it could be grown here and not smuggled in thusly ending some of the drunk traffic-cartel type issues.
the gov would make money vs loosing it by trying to stop it from coming in the country etc but being able to tax it.
