I believe bit's means the amount of pixels you can use to make a design in a game the more bits you have the more pixels you can use thusly more detail you'll have.
so an 8-bit game will have less detail than a 32,64,or 128-bit game. you can see this just by playing an atari against a ps2.atari used like 8-bits where the PS2 uses like 128-bits to create designs.I hope this sheads some light I don't know the nuiances of game programing,but that's a simplified rundown of it.
