I have been there many times. There is a lot to do there. Of course tanning and hanging by the pool or beach. There is sooo much to see and do. In cancun you can go on a pirate ship and have dinner and a show on a boat. You can also do a jungle cruise that will take you on a trip in the water, with kayaking and rock climbing around some more beautiful Mayan ruins. There is the Island Mujeres close by that has snorkling with beautiful fish. They will let you parasail for free if the weather permits on the way back from the island.;
You can go check out the ruins in Tulum which are by the beach or the other huge pyramid Chi-chen Itza which is inland about 2 hours away.
there is soo much shopping to do in the big shopping mall or in the flea markets and in the playas Americas and also el Mercado 28.
the nightlife is amazing.....
Coco bongo is pricey but it is worth everypenny you will spend.. its great shows and great music.
Senior frogs is cool and so is Daddy rocks and Daddy O's. The The city was alright.

Swim with the dolphins, at Dolphin Discovery, took my daughters last year, bought the video, a great memory.... Cancun is soooo beautiful...... One year there, we went to the
Maya Ruins, that was awesome to.... Really breathtaking..

YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GO TO XCARET it is 1 hr south of cancun, you will need 2 days to see everything
try to see the Chichen Itza (mayan ruins) amazing!!!

you have to go to "isla mujeres"..
you will have to go by a ferrie..
it's a little island. it's beautiful. all of Cancun is just beautiful!
xcaret is also a must see place!

If you are over a certain age..like 30..can you take a tour of a timeshare and they give you a list activities for free..plus they feed you..
