Dravid, the underrated. Dravid, the shadow of Tendulkar. Average: 55.22
Centuries: 15 !
I like this BBC article which serves justice to a batsman following in a great tradition of Indian batsmen.
For Dravid is also known as the Wall, an impregnable line of defence that can have some of the finest bowlers in world cricket exasperated
He is a wall because of technique, variety and choice of shots. All executed with a temperament suited for the longer version.

Batting at no.3 is depends on the situation. If Sehwag or Sachin lost their wicket at 1st, Rahul Dravid should be bat at 3rd number. He is wall of India & he can fight with all bowlers. He bat by seeing situation. If he scored good runs, india always win the match.
But 1st partnership goes upto 150in 30-35 overs we will need fast runs & Dhoni can Do this. In another situation, we can use Kaif, Irfan (Irfan is good option also. He played good matches at this no.) .
At last, this is depends on situation.

Rahul Dravid.
Strategy or no strategy.
All players play at their best when they play for country.
Cricket is a team game and if you get a good start, the rest of the team members can build on it.
SA has mainly bouncy wickets and a player with capability and technical defence and attack should come down at No. 3 to play and build the innings.
I have no doubt, that technically Rahul Dravid is the best bat we have and only he should bat at No. 3 to allow other players to build upon.

Itz irfan pathan due to the pinch hitting can disturb the bowlers and the second addvantage is that india will have a long batting tail dravid is more important at 20-40 overs where he can build
a solid platform for a big score and also give gud sapor to the opening batsmen . for india to win one of the openig batsmen should play a long innings

Rahul Dravid should be ideal No. 3 Batsman. However, considering the weak middle order, I feel either Mohd. Kaif or Dinesh Mongia should bat at No. 3 and Dravid can guard the middle order.

No doubt, Rahul Dravid is the right person for one down. He can access the inning and will play accordingly. If his openers failed to score a good total , being a captain and specialist batsman he can take charge. Any other player in current team cannot play and mould the inning like captain.
MS Dhoni can come one down, if he fails then huge pressure will come on Rahul.

I think Rahul Dravid should play at number 3 for India, since he will give the balance and hold the wicket for the middle or lower middle order to break loose in the end.

if India are batting first the dravid has to come out at no 3 because he provides stability to the side and allows the lower end batsman to improve the run rate
but if India are chasing then dhoni has to come at no 3 because he can play well and improve the run rate
pathan or kaif shouldn't be sent at no 3

It should be Md. Kaif. Think he is being wasted batting at mid-lower order as he is not enriched with shot-playing ability. He has a tendency to build his innings allowing a fair deal of dot balls. This is unusual at the slogs when people like Dhoni is more wanted.

No other player is in a better form than Dravid. so as the most dependable and cool player he should be given the chance to play a steady innings and make a target around 320.
