I would suggest you go to the ER, i was told with my first that I had 24 hours from the time my water broke to deliver or they would have to do a c-section

Have you reached or passed your due date, or are you early? Usually, the water doesn't break until you are already in labor, but obviously this isn't always true. When the water breaks and women do not go into labor on their own, they are usually induced or undergo a c-section. The reasoning is that once the water breaks, there is no longer a solid barrier protecting the baby from bacteria that would multiply rapidly in the warm watery conditions. Doctors reccomend that a baby be delivered within 24 hours of the water breaking to prevent this. It could possibly be that your midwife has been practicing a very long time and this rule of thumb has changed since she received her license, but I would call her again, and go to the ER or your local hospital.

I don't now how your midwife is, but mine was in a group practice with three OB/GYN's so that one of them would be able to take over if there were complications. When my baby didn't want to come, one of them was called in and I ended up having a c-section.

And you know what? Maybe you're one of those lucky ones that will have a mild labor. My mother in law was in labor with my fiance for a whole day. She went to her regular check-up, and the dr. felt the contractions during the exam. She hadn't been paying attention to the rythym of the contractions, because she wasn't expecting to go into labor for another four weeks.

I would definately call my midwife back or have a dr. check you, because you don't want to deliver the baby in the backseat of the car on the way to the hospital, or before your midwife arrives if it is a home birth.

Good luck and congratulations on you soon-to-be-born baby!

You should go to the hospital anyway. If she was a good midwife she would know that the longer the baby is without its amniotic fluid the more at risk it is for catching some kind of infection or it is not getting all of the nutrients it needs. Besides even though you don't feel the contractions doesn't mean you are not having them. Please go to the ER even if it only for precaution. Congrats

My sisters water broke almost a day before she went into labour. I would listen to your midwife, she knows what she is doing and will enduce you when the time comes. Infection is a posibility, but unlikely, dont go swimming in any public pools...lol. Good Luck and try to relax. Your body will do what it needs to to get the job done. Congratulations!!!

Im on my 5th being pregnant and had my first toddler 17 years in the past. i substitute into advised then while my water broke if my contractions didnt initiate interior 12 hours i could be in probability for an infection. They advised me to return back in the event that they did no longer initiate. I certainly have had 3 extra infants when you consider that then and the comparable substitute into advised by utilising my distinctive docs for each toddler and by utilising my hospitals. All infants born in distinctive states. After your water breaks you have 12 hours in the past an infection can initiate. I dont be attentive to why your scientific institution could deliver you abode and not take this heavily. except they thought you may initiate your contractions and could be back quickly. Do you have a physician to call? Do it now! in case you dont circulate back and insist to be seen by utilising an OB/GYN, no longer and ER healthcare expert. clarify while your water broke and ask approximately an infection. stable success.

Go to the ER, if your water has broke you are risking infection of your baby!

Why would my labor be induced?
Your labor might need to be induced if the risks of prolonging your pregnancy are higher than the risks of delivering your baby right away. The most common reasons for this include:
• Your water breaks and your labor doesn't start on its own within a reasonable amount of time. (Exactly how long that is will depend on your healthcare practitioner and your particular situation.)

It is recommended that you wait for 24 hours as some women do not begin labor pains immediately. After 24 hrs, go to hospital & they will induce labor. The midwife may discourage this as the hospital will likely want you in a doctor's care while inducing labor. Good luck & try to stay as calm as possible, it makes labor go faster the more relaxed you are. So, go to bed please - you will need your energy later.

That could definatly be a sign that the baby is understress and possibly have the cord wrapped around the neck which is why the baby wouldnt be able to move down the vaginal canal!!! pleaseeeeeeeeeee go to the ER!!!!!! It would be awful to go through this whole pregnancy and then have a baby that isnt breathing!!!
