i already know that
its named after elizabeth, the virgin queen of england
but i can't find anything else.

I thought it was because of Virginia Dare. The first English baby born in "The New World". I may be completely wrong though.

basically what you know is all there is to know. check out this website...it's on the state of Virginia, and scroll down to the 'origin'. it'll tell you exactly that it was named after the "virgin" queen elizabeth.
