I am going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner. I would like to bring a dish but have no clue what to bring besides a desert. They have all the basics covered and I want to bring something not too fancy but that will impress. Any help?

Bring some kind of a casserole. The recipe books are full of them, and many are pretty easy to make. They make a very nice "bridge" between the main dish & the vegetables. Have a good Thanksgiving! :)

Since the meal seems to be well in hand, your friend should probably lean toward bringing a host/hostess gift instead of something for the table (unless they've specifically asked for a dish to pass). Candies, nuts, small floral arrangement, nice holiday-scented candle or sachets would all be nice. Happy Thanksgiving!

If you want to make a dessert that is VERY easy and EVERYONE loves it, do this.

1 8oz tub cool whip thawed
3/4 cup chocolate chips
2tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla

Melt chips in microwave in 30 sec intervals. Stir cinnamon and vanilla into cool whip while you melt chips. When all melted, pour chocolate into cool whip and fold in. Once it is all blended, let set up in fridge for about a half hour. serve with Nilla Wafers as a dip.

This only takes about 5 minutes to make and EVERYONE thinks it's complicated because it tastes SO rich!!

Usually they have turkey, definitely the next thing will be dessert. Why dont you bring something for family activity? What are they fond of ? What about coffee? or wine? which will blend with the food? What about fingerfoods? Nachos? anything which you can nibble while talking with relatives. Magazines or probably ask them for a stroll outside. Look for something interesting!

I'm pretty sure your in-laws got everything covered. Why don't you ask your spouse, that's your insider. Other than that you'll never go wrong with two bottles of red or blush wine or even a couple of sparkling apple ciders.

How about a nice relish tray?
One with pickles, olives, celery, carrot sticks, baby corn, etc...

Perhaps a couple of nice bottles of wine might go well (if everyone drinks alcohol) or a nice after dinner liqueur.
