Generally, they can't start telling until 20 weeks. At about 14 weeks they can give you an estimate, but it's only about 80% accurate.

The 'parts' are usually formed by week 14 but they are difficult to pick up on an ultrasound until after the 17th week. Most doctors will do a size & dates ultrasound around the 18-20 week timeframe and will be able to tell you the sex of the baby then!

Im 18wks pregnant and i just found out last week at the ultrasound that im having a girl so that would give u an answer from me at 17wks. The dr can usually see around 15-16 wks but it depends on how your baby is laying as well. good luck. i also went to the gender predictor and it was 100% correct.

Your insurance will not pay before 20-28 weeks & sometimes not then. My daughter's doctor sets the ultrasound for 22 weeks to check "growth" & the insurance pays. My 1st grandson had 3 ultrasounds - all 3 agreed he was a girl. 42 dresses later my grandson was born, I went back to the store for boy clothes. haha!

Usually your doctor will do two ultrasounds. The first at twelve weeks and the other should be during your sixth month. You can find out the sex during the first one, unless your my kids, and keep your legs closed(which they both did) My son had two ultrasounds and wouldn't open up if we were looking down there. My daughter either. They were both complete surprises. I had bought all blue for my son and all pink for my daughter, so I got really lucky. Good luck on your first ultrasound.
