or does your ex need to know your where abouts and can it be done across two seperate laws

I don't think you will find that divorce is automatic, but you can apply for a divorce on abandonment grounds after two years.But whether or not it would apply if you are out of the country and papers can't be served I'm afraid I cannot say.Sorry.

if in uk you can apply to the courts for a divorce. dont think your ex will not need to fill in the acknowledgement of service but double check this with the courts.

should be a very straight forward procedure if you've been separated over 2 years

I think your ex needs to know where you are and can divorce you in the law that she is in or vice versa. If you justv leave it and remarry you could be a bigamist.
