Well i can give you a few places like in St James (in the tourist capital) on the north coast,eg;Iron shore,Coral gardens (these two communities in rel estate values are medium high to high),and Farm heights, but mind you this one is for the super rich, sophisticated there is a new section of a gated community being developed in the hills just above the city,it self.in mango walk near to Paradise not paradise nor wood but paradise residential community, and West gate hills, but am a fraid that that part may be limited in property as most of it is developed, but you could check it out.
There are other cheaper avenues in that part of the island, like Bogue another newly developed section of Montego Bay but it depends on your liking of the place. there are many other places in and around these areas of St James, and Hanover,(which have a few places also).

Another great place to look can be St Ann the garden parish, such places like,Runaway Bay,Discovery bay,Ochi rios and St Ann's bay,and some more areas further east in the parish. Another wonder full parish is also Manchester,it is a faverite of the English returnees,as the parish provides cool climate(subtropical temperatures all year round, gets a lot cooler even in winter, temperatures have been measured in the upper reaches of the parish to in the high 40 s to low 60s in some winter years, because of its mountainous elevation,2000 and more in feets).
Interms of crime that is concentrated most in the inner cities, and even though this year it has been lower in term of the murders that have been committed it is still too high, but you do not have too concern as most of it is in Kingston and St Andrew, even though it may be in other areas it is not as high.some of the places that i have mention in the above are excelllent place to live in but there are a few other places to live like in the upper reaches of the parish of St Andrew,or up town Kingston, which is strikingly, far less in crime but expensive in property prices.
The island abounds with alot of property, especially in the country areas, just check out the few that i have mention, and search the web for a few other listings.
Do not purchase property or make decisions by use of the web, it is better to get a first hand experience by visiting,as buying a home or property is one of the most important assets that anyone can purchase or have in ones life time.

Oh yeah before i forget, Jamaica, has a lot of natrual beauties in its forest and mountains,(Blue and Jhon crow national park and cockpit country). The cockpit country is Jamaicas largest, wilderness after the Blue and John crow mountains,it has the western hemispheres largest butter fly, second largest in the world,10% of the islands water flow out of there also. The country has 120 rivers and a variety of natrual wonders of the world.negril is famous for its many parties and its sunsets and a seven mile beach as its back ground.
Just explore and you will see, that if you will ever see everything as there is so much.
Jamaica is also the caribbeans largest English speaking country south of the US as english is the official language, its also the most modern in, Its IT sector or Information Telecommunications and Techno. So no need to worry when it comes to communicating by phone.more info, about the country, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/jamaica

Hope this information helps, good luck, you have made a good choice,as property in jamaica can be use in the tourist indusrtry,as rentals,(Am Montegonian,Jamaican).
