There was a time when I thought of the spanish as similar in culture and standards as the english.
However, surrendering to terrorism after the train bombings is a shame that spain will have to carry forever.
The reaction has only served to demonstrate that terror acts are effective to the extent that one single act of violence can knock a country out of the war on terror.Ultimately ,strengthening the terrorists position and increasing terror acts on the rest of the coalition.
Unusually the govt wasnt to blame but the ppls reaction .A reaction of immense cowardice ,unsurpassed even by the french!

I live in Scotland and own a home in Spain. having been there many times I find the Spanish on the whole most welcoming but a little self-serving. Many of them will rip you off without hesitation if they see the opportunity. If they dont know your face they will try to overcharge you if they think they can get away with it, the usual way they do this is to pretend they dont speak a word of english, and as far as construction of new buildings goes, they will say whatever they think you want to hear then do whatever suits them after they have permission. I hate to say this, but on the whole I find them a bit money-grabbing. I know tourism is their main industry but some of them just milk it a little too much.

I have travelled all over the world, including Spain, working and holidaying, and in every country I have been to I have met great like minded people. A sense of humour has a way of crossing all international borders and the Spanish people I met have lots of it.
What ever generalised criticism we may draw against another country, we can be sure that it also applies to our own.

They're Spanish. Apart from the language and the weather there's very little difference. Actually, I have some really good mates who are Spanish.

Not having been to Spain, I do not think I have met any Spanish people. I have met people from 40 countries or so.

Can't say I've come across many of them over here, so nothing to say from that perspective. Visited Spain a few time tho and the culture appears to be pretty laid back on the whole. "why do today what you can put off till whenever." That being said, most of those I came across seemed OK.

I personally don't have a problem with Spaniards. They (in some respects) are like the Greeks - warm, friendly, generally happy, relaxed, and open. The towns and cities are soaked in culture. Most places are generally nice to be, and I like it. Although I do get the impression they think (again like the Greeks) that all UK girls are easy................

I think the general feeling towards them is a positive one. There might be some football rivalry but nothing serious

I like them! Madria airport is just wow!

I think they should stop showing up us Brits on the Nudist beaches (La Siesta - Alicante).
