Kings, Queens, and Jacks X 4 = 12 Face Cards

If you add 2 Jokers = 14 Face Cards.

King, Queen, Jack, and Joker are picture characters in a deck. Ace is the symbol that is very large and others have small icons with the number count.

So its 13 all together. Some decks have two jokers.

In a standard deck of 52 cards: King, Queen and Jack of each suit, 12 cards, if you count jokers 14 cards.
In a pinocle deck of 48 cards: 2 of each in each suit, so 24 cards, 26 if you count the jokers.

Aces do not count as far as picture cards. They count in many card games played, and can count as one or fifteen. There are four suits having thirteen cards, three or picture cards Jack Oueen King. There are twelve picture cards in the four suits pluss two Jokers making fourteen picture cards in all. Bet you didn't know that a deck of cards is a Calander and a Bible.

each symbol or suits, spade, diamond, hearts and club have three characters, the king, the queen and jack. but if you are including joker, that's another character to consider..aces does not count since it's just a number, not a character. so if you add all of them together, you have 3 (character) x 4 (symbols/suits) =12 characters in a deck of cards...
