I think I am like others in that I try not to care about being important to others, but when it comes down to honesty, I think everyone wants to be important in some way. What do you think?

yes it is. being important and wanted by others gives a person emotional and societal security. but it should not grow into an obsession. making yourself important to others should a natural phenomenon. One must not act deliberately to attract others.

I do not get my self esteem from what others think of me. Guess it all depends on what you mean by important. My first response was no, but we all like to be valued by those close to us.

Sometimes. But usually I just care about what I think, unless I look like crap, and then I'm really self-conscious.
