my custom pc was running fine when my wife shut it down to rearrange everything she hook everything back up the way it was, yet when i went to turn it back on it wouldnt bring up anything on screen. straight black. it beeps twices then theres a short gap and it beeps six more times. now for my trouble shooting should i take this as 8 beeps or two beeps for one problem and six for another?

find out the manufacturer of your motherboard, then go to their website - they should have a list of the BIOS beep codes so you can diagnose the problem better.

As the beep codes are unique to each system board, you will need to check the manufacturer's web site for a list of codes. Often the codes will be made up of more than one number, so it could well be the code 2-6. (The 2 may mean a memory problem, and the 6 the specific memory error - or something similar). Checking the site will help you better interpret what you are hearing, and then what it means.

Check the monitor cable if it is connected check the video card if it is seated Good check the memory stick if they are seated good. this is what cause computer not to start and beep. this is hardware problem.
