I started taking OrthoNovum 1/35 recently, after using the NuvaRing for 2 months,im on the 8th pill of my first pack, and starting yesterday I was having light pink/brown discharge.Today I have been having really bad cramping and bright red bleeding. Would this be considered break through bleeding?I have been on a few different types of birth control in the past 2 years and this has NEVER happened before.I know it is fairly common to break through bleed on bc in some women, but it's never happened to me before.I also have what I think is a yeast infection that started yesterday, but it hasn't been too bad today.Could the two be linked, and I in fact not have a yeast infection and it be something completely different?I have no STDs,just had my annual check-up 2 weeks ago so I know that is not anything to be worried about.I guess I'm just asking if this is anything to be worried about? Probably not, since I stress everything way too much, but maybe some comfort will help? Thank girls...

I used to breakthrough bleed after being on the pill for 2 years or so. My gyno said that the hormones weren't strong enough when mid-cycle bleeding occured, and would increase my dose. This usually resolved the problem. Could be that the 1/35s aren't strong enough after being on the nuvaring. If your period doesn't occur when it should, you may also want to take a pregnancy test. With the transition, that is a possibility also. Good luck!
