Did they ever exist to begin with?? Think about it, humans have been waging war ever since they first existed. It really doesnt matter what you believe in, the bible or evolution, mankind has waged war since the beginning. Our ancesters fought over land and food. Then they began conquest. Getting more land and expanding their empires. Do you realy think that they had understanding for their conquested pplz??? They forced their way of life on them. Mankind has never had peace. Its just not our nature. There are some ppl who would rather it be so but think of it realistically, as long as there is something to fight over, thats what we'll do, fight. We wage war to find peace.

one word: diaspora
they were persecuted and spread out fleeing captivity.now they only reside within a few enlightened individuals...like my analogy?
peace and understanding was not with us when we evolved, but as we evolved, we gained these values. The progression of humanity can also be seen as a regression in evolution because all these values that distinguish us from animals are rapidly disappearing until they finally become only a memory of some abstract concept that existed long ago

Peace and understanding is never gone. It's always there buried in the deepest depths of man's heart and thoughts. It maybe obscured by man's pride and hatred but can be unearthed by man's love and humane acts. Let it shine...if you want to live a happy life.

Unfortunately, we'll have to experience war and confusion first!

You can't experience a peace full time, unless you have also experienced a time without peace!

As Elvis Costello sang: "What so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?"

I think they became, for many, too big of a burden to lug about, so they were jettisoned.

Pity.

Greed and lust got in the way, shouted louder and longer, and shoved them over the cliff.

Peace and understanding are "gentlemen" and did not force their way back. They need an invitation. We must teach our kids to ask them to return. And fast.
