I am upset that I got 4 wrong on my test today (92%) and I basically knew everything about cellular respiration to start out with but I can't seem to get that elusive grade. Please help me with some advise. I can't get an "A" in the course because the teacher keeps on taking away points for random reasons....

Here's my past results:

1st test- 78% 2nd highest
2nd test- 87% highest
3rd test- 82% highest
4th test- 88% tie-highest
5th test- 100%- highest
6th test- 92%- highest

I don't know what kind of random hits your teacher is making on the students. Perhaps you can't get past that? I went to three universities and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in all. The key to my good grades was my note taking. I took amazing notes and then when I got home, I went through them and outlined my notes making more sense of them. By the time I got through outlining and making a really nice bunch of note pages, I knew the material. It helps to not be freaked out by tests as well. They never bothered me. You either know it or you don't. I think trying to study at the last minute outside the classroom door is foolish. All that can do is get you all nervous and confused. Even being around other students who are panicking over their last minute studying will have a negative effect on you. I stayed away from the classroom and those students until the very last minute and didn't crack a book before the test. Like I said, "If I didn't know it when I got there, I wasn't going to learn it in 5 minutes!" I also helped other students study for their exams (the same ones I was taking) and this also solidified the information in my brain. In that case, you give and you get something in return. If there was an area which was extremely difficult to grasp onto, I stayed after class and talked to the instructor or made use of the computer programs available for that particular subject. Good grades take hard work. Your grades to date are not to be sneezed at, so don't be so hard on yourself.

Im having the same problem.

I find that writing the information over a couple times that your ememory will remember it more.

If not that then make a chart/study sheet that sums up what the book says. My highest grade in biology is an 82, and i just started using this advise im telling you. Before i used this advise i was making 60's.

Time for a discussion with the instructor.....taking away points for random reasons is acceptable if those reasons were given in the beginning of the course.

those an extremely good grades. you could likely get into NYU, yet your opportunities at Princeton and Columbia are narrow -- as are each and every person else's. And the 1st responder became incorrect, so do no longer hassle. maximum folk do no longer take AP classes till their junior year and get into correct colleges. For the main area, in basic terms low-ranked faculties the place AP classes are a shaggy dog tale permit rookies take them as a be counted of direction.

reading notes can only get you so far. In combination with theory work, you must practice it. Either do LOTS AND LOTS of practice questions or/and do trial exams or past exams.

if you lose points for truly random reasons, then I don't think we can help you.
