It depends on the intent of the lie and the magnitude of the lie. If you are telling a "white lie" to spare the feelings of someone else, then I don't think it's that big of a deal. If it's something earth shattering, then yes, it's a big deal.

yes lying is a big deal if you lie about little stuff and get caught in it not only will you feel stupid but the people in your life will not be able to trust you and will see you as nothing but a big liar

yes it is. when you find out that someone you love and trust is lying to you...no matter what the lie is about ...it makes you question everything that you have ever had with them. every conversation, every action that there was will be questioned and that leads to a lot of difficulty in a relationship.
