was w/ fiance for 2 years--taking no precautions to insure that I didn't get pregnant b/c "if it happened, it happened"..we wanted a baby. I was raped on 3-25-06 by a close friend of the family's (who I have forgiven b/c of his "situation"), and found out that I was pregnant on 4-12. I don't believe in abortion& after talking to b/f decided to keep the baby bc of the chance that it could be his. Around the end of May he broke up with me, saying that if the child wasn't his, he would never be able to look at it the way a father is supposed to look at his child (& the same for the way he looks @ me).My dr says that I am measuring 39 wks, and thinks that the LATEST I would have my baby is 12-5-06. I am unsure of the 1st day of my last period but I know it was in the 1st wk of March. Who has better chance of being the father? It is important to note that the "friend" of the family said he used a condom & I found an empty condom wrapper so believe that he did in face use protection

I think there is more of a chance for the boyfriend to be the father because you ovulate 12 to 14 after first day of period! I am sorry all this is happening but it will make you stronger.

I can't tell you who has the better chance of being the father - but what I can say is it is a good thing your b/f left now. What if you had been married and this happened? Would he have just left you to deal with it on your own? You deserve SOOO much better. I am so sorry you are having to go through all this. I guess you could (and probably should) request a DNA test after the baby is born so that you will be able to get child support from the father. Even if the "fathers" don't want to submit to it, it can be court ordered. Babies are expensive, and no matter what the situation, the father should help support the child.

Honey condoms don't always work and if the fiance really loved you he would be there for you in a situation like that a friend of mine was raped and has a beautiful baby girl from something so horrible and she has since gotten married and her husband thinks of the baby as his own no matter what happened and how the baby came into this world she is here and thats what matters so if he really loved you he can love this child no matter what he sounds like he doesnt want the responsibility but i would get a DNA test to make sure but you can be a father to someone but not everyone can be a DADDY.

I am so sorry for the crazy roller coaster I'm sure you've been on recently.

I think a DNA test is the only way to tell. Let your doctor know what happened and he/she should be able to arrange for the test although they may not be able to do it until after the baby is born.

There are really too many variables here to "guess" who is most likely the father of this child, such as not knowing when you LMP was; and one would only be guessing as to the frequency of sexual relations with your fiance. At any rate, please consider obtaining a paternity test for this child, so that regardless of what your (ex)boyfriend decides to do, you will have peace of mind, and this question will not haunt you in the years to come.

Ur best bet would be to talk to your Dr. A DNA test is the only thing that can determine that besides God. We would just be taking a wild guess. Good Luck and sorry that you had to go through that.

unfortunately a DNA test is the only way to tell. And if you had sex with your fiance within a few days of the rape there's no good way to guess. I hope you have told your OB about this situation so that they are prepared.

Tell your doctor about the situation and arrange for a DNA test.
