"Here's a simple answer to both problems[draft and illegals]: Draft the Mexicans and send them to Iraq."

Others usually follow by saying if they serve about 6 years they and their family(imediate) can have citizenship, if not they're kicked out.

I'm just curious how many would get behind this or something like it. What do you think?

if they want to serve in our army to be citizens, come on and join

Maybe for 3 years in the service, you can be a citizen, i like that, you will pay your debts to your new country and get familiar with american cultures

Sounds o.k. at first blush.

But, the fall of the Roman Empire was caused, in part, by the Romans relying on foreign mercenaries rather than on their own people to do the fighting.

When comparing America today against the Roman Empire of yesterday I find many similarities that point to the decline of America as it once was. Just consider the fact that many of our eligible men and women do not want the draft reestablished, nor would they support universal military training. In using Mexican immigrants (illegal or not) we might well hasten the demise of our country.

I do not care for war, nor do I support the present conflict in Iraq, but Americans must defend America. If not, we deserve to lose our country

Having a mercenary army is not a good idea as we are now finding out in Iraq by not having enough volunteers to do the job. We keep having to send the same people back over and over, and they are not happy about it. To hire Mexicans to do our fighting for us has so many potential problems with it it would be hard to go into here. I suppose many would think we could get them cheaper than our own citizens, so they might think it was a good idea. What would happen if they did not like the assignment, like the Mexican border for example.

That is a good question but unfortunately i can not answer part of your question to classified martial. But how can you draft illegals if they are not documented. Which takes us right back to square one. If you want to come and live in this country, go through the proper channels, you'll do better, and you would be entitled to the benifits of public services. Because i dont know about you, but i dont like illegals taking advantage of my tax dollars being spent because they demand we serve them our citizens public services.

It goes...." how about any illegal we catch we give them 8 weeks of free training! Yes thats right...............basic training. Then we ship them to the country of their choice, Iraq, Iran, or N. Korea. After they serve six years fighting for freedom, they can have their citizenship."

They have no right to say yes or no......they were caught here illegally. Would they follow orders? Lets see, when the bullets start flying and they are the target!

What an interesting idea. It could have some merit. The Mexicans would have to agree to it, of course.

I think it's absurd. Somehow, I doubt if our military leaders would want all of the illegals as soldiers.
