movies like "finding nemo" and "over the hedge" and others
always get a 9 to 10 out of 10 on sites such as IMDB and rottentomatoes,

and real movies have been getting less and less ratings

what gives?

Those films are the palatable, easy listening, elevator muzak of the film industry and while a lot of talent goes in to making them and they are usually funny and enjoyable to watch, they are just too easy to watch.

Same with most things - society seems to want everything served in an easily digestible format. Why eat a steak when you could put it in a blender and turn it in to a steak-O-shake?

There's probably a lot of teddy bear collectors who do the reviews and besides those films won't offend anybody whereas real films are bound to offend somebody.

There's nothing wrong with nice but in story telling, it's not very honest.

cartoon movies are more forgiving of the people in them, since the cartoon can't have mistakes - mistakes are just redrawn, or erased. And when it comes time to add the voices, if they goof their lines all they have to do is say them over again - no big scenes to re-enact if they mess up.

And like some others here have said - with cartoon movies, you don't have the in-depth dramatization that you do with bigger movies, the concepts are simpler and easier to understand, and appeal to people of all ages. It's a family type of movie, so it gets big ratings from all areas.

Because they are family movies so you can't go wrong with cartoon movies. Also they aren't like in depth and they are easy to understand and that's why everyone loves watching them! plus...they are usually funny :)

Probably because it's harmless fun, appropriate for the whole family.
That doesn't make them good movies, though.
