Religion.
Only in religion is sin and evil created, it simply does not exist in the animal world, where creatures behave assording to instinct. Society makes humans behave contrary to instinct, and uses these notions of evil as justification.

I think it is there so we can learn by it. It is a sad thing but if we were all good, then what lesson would we learn. We need to compare to the evils of the world and live a better life. Nobody is perfect and we have proof of that everywhere. I vow not to be like these evil people and try and do mankind good. No evil, no comparison and life would be meaningless.

Evil is present in the world today because we have people who look on and do nothing about it. What I mean is that people see evil going on all around them, however, they choose to dismiss it instead of doing something about it. I hope this helped :]

Because we've allowed evil into the world. Also, what would life be like without evil? It would be boring.

We have created it. We have free will and we bring about 'evil', virus, sadness, etc. Yet...we also have within us to bring about peace, awareness, happiness... We either keep ourselves cloaked behind 'veils' and so as to slow growth and awareness (mucky life) or we can 'tune in' and allow ourselves to 'awaken' thus removing the 'veils' so as to 'see' more clearly for brighter enlightenment and happiness. A thought...we can use the 'evils' experiences in the world to have comparison with and learn from. Sometimes 'challenges' are gifts of lessons for shift, change and growth.

Evil is a point of view. The only one that can truly judge evil is God, if you believe in him/her. I don't, but you might.

we all posess good and evil. our free will determines which route we follow. plus if we were all good, we'd have no conflict to resolve, and as humans that's what we love to do. why do you think we like watching movies so much? they all have conflict. with evil in the world, it gives us something to do.. we all like to defeat the bad guy
