We were moving from some place to some place (dont want to be found out on internet and bad stuff happen) It was cramped in the car We had hardly any place to move. When we got out i stretched for a looong time it felt great to get out of that car which the heater didnt work very well. I had fallen asleep so i said "where are we?" my mom said "Niagra falls Canada" Then i remembered we were going to spend Christimas there. It was cold there. We were going to have a room on the third floor of the hotel but some handicapped people had to have a low down room, so we ended up having a room on the top floor. I was happy and the view was incredible i could see for miles I had a perfect view of the falls and they were imluminated by coloured lights at night, until they were turned off late at night. I could see the individual people strolling minding their own buisness, The cars busy as ever with last minute shopping on Christmas eve. We ordered a pizza from some family owned buisness. When the pizza arrived it was hot and our drinks were cold. The hotels ice is always the best. We ended up getting a more luxorious room than we would have had normally because of the handicapped people. But we had it for about half the price. After dinner I went for a long walk next to the falls and the river. It was cold except for inside my coat where it was nice and toasty. I saw a good coffee shop and went inside and bought an apple cider with cream. It was the best ive ever had. I went in a bookstore and was reading Ender's game like i had always wanted to and watching people rushing in and out. I wondered what they were thinking about if they had kids their faces on christmas morning after i finished a coulple of chapters i bought the book. I went back to the hotel room and I finished up some loose ends of house keeping and i curled up next to the fireplace we never would have gotten if it hadnt been for the handicapped people. It was very warm. I drifted off to sleep, with the covers pulled up to my neck. I awoke the next morning to find the tree with loads of presents under it. It was wonderful opening them all. I never thought i would get to do the tradition of watching "A Christmas Story" every year. But they had an all day marathon of it showing on TV, so i watched it. I played with my toys i got and played with my siblings but sadly we had to leave later that day. To the new place we were going.

It was the first Christmas that my parents were divorced. I know that sounds bad, but it truely was the best Christmas I ever had. My dad is not my favorite person in the world, because he always caused stress on the family instead of actually being a father. So as you can imagine, we all had a great time. We started a fire, turned on the Christmas cartoons in the background for my 5-year-old sister, and just talked. Talked like a normal family. My mom also lit lots of soothing candles. It was just... the best Christmas ever.

When I was 6. I lived in the Caribbean where my parents are from. They would go to the States to buy our xmas gifts, and that was the year I found out that Santa was my parents.

So, my Dad was in the bathroom, and I sheepishly knocked on the door (after my mom asked me to go ask Dad!) and when he inquired, I said: Well, this girl at my school, Miriam, said that you're Santa Claus - I mean, that Santa Claus doesn't exist and that you buy the gifts and put them under the tree... Is that true?

My father is not one to ever mince words. He said: Yes, it's true. Are you disappointed?

I said: No. Can I get lots of presents still?

He answered: Of course.

So, he and my mom did their yearly thing, going to the States to get stuff. Well, I didn't watch much TV, so I didn't really know what to ask for... I asked for a bicycle and a beebee gun and some tools! Can you believe it???

When I opened my gifts at Christmas, I had to act surprised for my baby sisters. I overplayed it like a drama queen. I opened the bicycle box, and exclaimed in joy! I'd never remembered asking for anything from Santa before... And now that I did ask, I got!!!

So the morning after, my parents put the bike together, and I was chasing my sisters with my empty beebee gun... Yeah, I was my mother's dream child, I'm sure... And the pedals were missing for the bike. Now, since this was purchased overseas, there was no way to get pedals for the bike.

You know what? I learned how to ride the bike with no pedals! And even after subsequent trips to the States when my dad brought back the pedals, I didn't ever use them.

That was the best Christmas ever, because that was the first one I can truly remember...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I'd have to say it was the last Christmas we were able to spend with my husband's mother. She passed away Feb of the next year and it took a lot of getting used to that she was no longer with us.

My husband has a huge family, 12 siblings including him. Add to that each sibling has 2 children except for us, we're hogs and have 5. The house used to be just over flowing with people but there was always so much love from her and she was forever making certain everyone was happy and well fed of course.

She was a doting grandma and couldn't get enough of all her grandchildren...that Christmas was the first and last one that we took (or attempted to take) a complete family picture.

Every Christmas since we try to burn a candle for her, my dad and grandparents and this year we will add a candle for my husbands dad who passed away in May this year. The candles represent our lighting the way for their spirits to join us and for us to show that we have not forgotten them.

I've had many others that have been wonderful but this last with her was beyond that...I was very fortunate to marry into a family where my mother and father in law were truly precious people.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

The first Christmas we spent with my "new" dad. My mom married him when I was 5 and I was worried, because we moved to a new state, that I would not have Christmas with my gramma. She showed up on Christmas Eve and Santa hooked my 'lil sis and I up that year. It was a really good Christmas, I have had a lot of good ones since then but that one just stands out.

My best christmas ever has to be last year. My son was born on december 23rd. Even though I spent it in the hospital, holding my newborn son was the greatest present ever! and to know he is going to be one this year is great too! He was the most beautiful baby I have ever laid eyes on. I have the pictures to prove it. Im not saying this as a mom, but from other people saying it too. He needs to be in a magazine! Now its my birthday, his birthday and xmas all in the same month!

The best Christmas I ever had, was a few years ago. Or family decided to not give gifts, and just celebrate the birth of Jesus. It was amazing how much fun,and how close it brought us together as a family! I know it sounds corny. We aren't like a "church going family" so it was really meaningful!

As a young child...just believing in and waiting for Santa and the raindeer. It was magicical. It didn't matter what he brought us...it was the anticipation of the event that thrilled me.
