I'm wondering why the word is hunny but not honey.
Is there any reason that makes the author use the word "hunny" instead of "honey"?

Because it's a children's story - "Hunny" is the phoenetic pronounciation of honey, so it's easier for children to understand - it's our job as adults to help them understand that it's not how the word is spelled, but it is how it's spoken.

i've got seen many distinctive colorations, too. i do now not think of he surely has a delegated honey pot, he merely makes use of in spite of is mendacity around the treehouse.... anyhow, possibly it could be yet another relaxing pastime in case you had the little ones paint them first! it ought to be on the commencing up of the occasion, so as that they have got time to dry. OR, you would be able to provide them paper templates to shade, and then tape them around the jars, that way there is not any mess, yet they'd nevertheless make it notwithstanding they want. And it particularly is yet another pastime to make the occasion "that plenty cooler"

The reason is to deliberately misspell the word to give it a more genuine "kid-like" effect - as if a young child wrote it. When the target population is children, it is common for artists or writers to misspell words or to write letters backwards (i.e. "S") or to mimic the penmanship of a child. I guess it's meant to be cute. In my opinion, it's stupid and it's misleading our children. We're not getting any smarter as a population.

Well its the same as tigger having two "g"s, when he is a tiger. If you've seen the cartoon, also notice the name on Pooh's house is incorrect. I believe that the letter "s" or "z" is backwards, it's just part of the characters.

Its been a while since I visted the 100(0) acre wood, but doesn't that world exist inside Cristopher Robin's head, and the creatures in it are really his stuffed animals who he imagines acting within that world. thus any spelling errors are actually in his head because he has yet to learn the proper form
