First go to your States home page and look for the business registry office - Usually the Secretary of States office (in your state of course) and do a name search, most have online services or you can call them. Then go to the US trademark office and make sure it isn't a trademark or copyright name. http://www.uspto.gov/


If both are unused, file it with your states registry office which is usually the secretary of states office.

You can try doing an internet search first and then go to a local registry office and they can look it up for you.
