I'm from Denmark and my friends have always thought this a little weird, but it has been a tradition for my family for a long time.
We don't use electric candles, but rather use real candles on our Christmas tree. Of course we have a fire extinguisher handy.
Once the candles are lit, we all sing Christmas songs and dance around the Christmas tree.
Like most people, I'm sure you will think it weird. However, it is a traditional way to celebrate Christmas for us. Also, we celebrate it on the night of the 24th. That is when we open presents.

Office parties, house parties, family gatherings, visiting friends, baking goodies, eating and drinking too much and spending lots of money and time shopping and wrapping presents. Some people to go church. The best part is seeing the lights in all the homes ...inside and out. It adds everything to the festivities.

In México, we celebrate seven days before the Christmas, with parties called "posadas" where you can break "piñatas" and eat and drink traditional food.

When I lived in Germany in 1957 instead of stockings we put shoes out so Santa could leave candy in it. I use to use my dad's army boots but still would slways get the same amount of candy. SmART SANTA.
