I have a new laptop and I cannot hear any sounds. The volume is turned all the way up. I was able to hear sounds a couple of days ago.

Mine does that sometimes when it's gone into hibernate or stand by mode. I'm not sure why it does it but if you shut it off or put it back into hibernate or standy by for a few seconds and turn it back on the sounds on mine works.... That could be the problem.. if not I'd take it back and complain if the speakers are actually broken.

Is it muted? Right click the Speaker by the clock and left click adjust volume, and the entire control will pop up. Make any adjustments there.

Hi eclipsechick721,

On my Mac, the mute key is separate from the volume up and down keys. Maybe it's the similar on yours. Best of luck to you.

it looks the mute option is on , just turn it off, also check the properties of ur audio devices by going into
start-> control panel -> system -> device manager -> audio
if it has yellow ? or cross X on it then there is some problem with the audio device drivers ,

go to start
go to accessories
go to entertainment
go to volume control

look in there if you accidentialy clicked on mute?
if you did unclick it and this should work
if not check your wires.
