OK since I got it and kinda missed it on the other then I will try this one.

The Y should stand for Yearly...as in Geology everything forms and deterioriates yearly.

If I thought you wanted a more philosphical answer I would have said that there is NO answer for the letter Y because it is the end of the word Geogology and there is no end to Geology no matter what happens to the earth....Thank you though for the earlier one, I did work hard for the extra credit. Great questions...this one was a little shorter. Thanks Teach...Alda

Do you mean, what word beginning with the letter Y, has something to do with geology?

Yield point - The maximum stress that a given rock can withstand without becoming permanently deformed

Yield strength - The stress at which a material exhibits a specified deviation from proportionality of stress and strain. An offset of 0.2% is used for many metals.

guess it's frustrating if you're playing a game with words cause some words tend to make no sense--i love word games too :)

well, in answer to your q, the y is there because -logy is "the study of." so the y just happens to be part of the suffix -logy...
