yea no - not many jobs...

you have to really like it, because you need to get like 3 degrees in it before you're respected enough to get work in that field ...

you'll need a lot of experience too - most analysts are NOT new grads - they have a few years behind them...

BUT, those who have a lot of degrees and a lot of experience can demand fairly good salaries ($200,000 or more)

Economist is definitely a pretty niche job -- there's not as many "Economist" job titles out there as for many other kinds of positions. And I think it's true you may have to have a PhD to really have such a job.

Of course there's lots of other jobs out there that can be done by someone who majors in Economics -- it's a good major that suggests you're smart and analytical, IMHO.

I'm a senior studying to a B.A. in Economics with a high major GPA and from a good university but the job market is still looking hard as hell for me. I'm preparing for the worst right now.
