Science has always been around. The ancient Egyptians had science. There is never a time Europe did not have "science" except perhaps the Stone Age and prior to man's habitation.

"Science" is a word that comes from the latin word for knowledge. It wasn't until the Renaissance when techniques learned from Alchemy and the Inquisition (believe it or not) grew (during the Age of Reason around the 1700's) into what we now consider the Scientific Method.

Ancient Greece and Rome had scientists. Both are in Europe.
