Try this u will understand. When ur urinating if u get a sneeze, do not stop urinating then u will know how much pressure is applied on all over the body, when we sneeze. this is the reason, we close our eyes. If u dont close the eyes , the eyes pain.

Regards.

The pressure exerted by sneezing would literally force your eyeballs from your skull. closing the eyes is a protective measure

It is impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze. We are built to uncontrollably close our eyes when we sneeze. It is our body's way of protecting our eyes from foreign objects, particles, germs, and debris when we sneeze.

Maybe something to do with the air pressure and the space inside our nasal cavity and all. Since there is a good amount of space in our head, we need protection against, i dunno popping our eyes literally out of their sockets.
