lip balm, lip gloss, and lipstick makes my lips loof funny. i know gloss is meant to make your lips look like sausages so i avoid it but because my lips are so large, (top and bottom) lipstick looks odd on them. horizontal lines show and i never know what colors to wear to minimize the size

Use lipbalm, and im sure theyre not GIGANTIC, just pleasantly plump, a lot of people would do anything for beautiful plump lips. Avoid wearing really shiny/bright lipstick/gloss if you want to conceal them. You should really learn to appreciate your lips though, confidence is the best makeup. (yes, i am aware that was corny, but true)

Your answer is to create an illusion that they are smaller with foundation, powder, and lip liner followed by lipstick. Some comestics people say pick a matte shade of lipstick that matches your skin, some, believe it or not, say pick a darker shade rather than a lighter shade. This is what the makeup professionals say:

If you feel like your lips are too full there is a trick for lining them that will reduce them. When lining your lips line them just inside the natural line. If you want to hold the shape, fill in your lips with the liner prior to applying your colour. This little tip makes a big difference.

FULL LIP:
Cover the part of the lip line with foundation to make the lip look like smaller, then use Lip Liner to draw lips slightly inside natural lip line (about 0.5-1cm ) before adding lipstick. To widen the shape, you may draw a longer lip line at the conjunction of upper and lower lip line. Lip gloss may not be a good choice as it will thicken the lips. Deeper colour would make your lips visually smaller.

Also:

Use lip liner (in the same color family as the lipstick) to line the lips before applying gloss. This will prevent the lipstick from "bleeding" on screen. If you would like to make lips appear smaller, move the lip liner inside the lips' natural line.

You can also counterbalance your lips by emphasizing your eyes, but you will have to practise to get the right look. If you have a digital camera, check some make up guides, follow their instructions, for different make up looks; then have someone photograph each different look and see how it looks on you from a distance -- it's more objective than a mirror.

Here are a few tips that hopefully will help you:
Avoid dark colored lipstick.
Use a lip liner that is a shade or two lighter than your lipstick.
Always blot your lips after you put on lipstick, because if you dont, your lipstick will look way to heavy on your lips.
Always put a light coating of chapstick on under your lipstick, that will avoid the horizontal lines.
Hopefully it helped a little!

Welcome to the club, I do too ^^
Don't hate your lips, everyone wants big lips. Go for a see-through lip gloss, or one that is the exact same color as your lips.
A lipstick of the same color will even out your lip color and fill in cracks, making your lips look smoother but not like a Bratz doll's. As for a sheer, colorless gloss (which I think will work best in this case) a simple bonnebelle lipgloss will do too.

Do not worry about having gigantic lips ppl won't abuse you or make fun of you.I think the best lipstick is light purplish-blue.
