Give yourself a time to wallow, grieve for the end of the relationship, write hate mail that you do NOT send, whatever it is that you need to do to express your feelings. Once that period is over do something to treat yourself, buy a new outfit, get your hair cut in a completely different style, start an exercise program, something that will make you feel like a new person. Also, find a new activity, something you didn't have time for while with him or something he wouldn't do. Then stay busy, keep active, meet new people. In a lot counseling programs they say "fake it, 'til you make it." It sounds hokey, but it really does work.

First you have to realize that you don't need him to survive. It didn't work so just be happy about the great times you shared and move forward. Stop focusing on him and focus on yourself. What makes you happy?? Do you have the job you've always wanted?? Do you look like you want to look like?? Do you have the love and support of great friends?? Do you have the love and support of your family?? Focus on you!!!!!!! What passions do you have and why are you pursuing them?? What desires have you had in the past and why haven't you chased them. Life is too short and you should write down what you really want and go after it........

Going to pubs and clubs is not a solution but just a thrill which will land you no where.
Fall in love with yourself first.
Pamper yourself for the time you wasted with your ex.
Do all the things you missed to do whilst his presence and spoil yourself and start enjoying.
Take a short holiday.
Socialize with your friends and party out for abit of change.

think of all the pain he caused you when you were together!!
I'm sure there must have been plenty.
you need time to grieve him it's true
take up a sport or join a nice club & try to keep busy with hobbies & with friends etc or help other people in need.
In time you will be over him
good luck & don't be too sad
