Devotion is good to a loved one because it shows that not only can they trust you and know that they are loved, because people need assurance, but also because it shows that person that you respect them and care about them enough to dedicate a part of yourself that not just "anybody" would do. When you devote your time, self, money into something or someone it is important to you. When someone feels that you are devoted to them it helps them feel like they have a reason for living and are worth something.

Mental well being - having a devoted spousal relationship has been proven to cause good mental health.
Physical contact - has been proven to increase endorphins in the brain which also helps promote good mental healt and well being.
The third and unasked for answer, disease. If you fool around, you bring it home with you.
