I live in Fl and my soon to be ex husband lives in NY. I am trying to sell my house here in Fl. He has never lived here. He is telling me he is going to put a lean on my house because he wants money from it. Can he do that?

Was the house bought with money accumulated during the marriage, an inheritance or some outside source? Also, it depends on the state in which the divorce was filed in because each state has its own property division laws in a divorce situation. In the end, you should consult your attorney for further information. Just in case, I have provided information for both states on links.

It depends - did you buy it together? Did you buy it when you were in the relationship already? It's entirely possible that he could. It depends on the laws in your state...Also, is it possible that you will owe him money after the divorce? He might want to put a lein on the house so he is guaranteed his money. I'd call an attorney in Florida and ask.
