I had a room overlooking the city in Oahu and a room overlooking the ocean in Maui. The ocean is a beautiful endless thing. You can get lost comtemplating its sheer infinite seeming depths. Cities have finite limits. Cities are man made. Oceans have been around forever and are beautiful to look at when the sun goes down. The sound of waves is also very soothing compared to police sirens or maybe just street bustle.

I would prefer a room overlooking the ocean. I wouldn't stay in the room very long though. I would take a walk along the beach occasionally pausing to pick up a seashell. I'd watch the waves lap against the shoreline as seagulls flew overhead. The ocean smell would linger in the salty air as palm trees swayed in a gentle summer breeze. Children would laugh and play as they built sandcastles in the sand. That would be paradise to me and I wish I was there.

In the spring/ summer I am all over the idea of going to bed with the sound of the Ocean and waking to the beach and sun! The City is really fun too, especially 4th of July fireworks and New Years.
