pump and give him a bottle? i guess you could immediately stop nursing him when he bites you, and then start back in about 20 minutes. maybe he'll get that when he bites, the food goes away?

How old is the baby? Is he latching on properly and getting enough milk at each feeding? You could talk to a lactation consultant about it. If you get desperate you can pump your breast milk and feed it to him with a bottle. You shouldn't be in pain while nursing since it ruins the entire experience.

Try going to a La Leche League meeting.

Sometimes they bite because the milk isn't coming fast enough and you can do breast massages and whatnot for it.

If he is biting at the end then you just need to take him off when he is done, don't give him time to mess around.

You could also try a nipple shield, but I don't think an older baby would go for that.

i'm no longer ure we are in a position to grant you rather good advice without understanding how previous the toddler is, so i'll purpose some ordinary advice. in the experience that your toddler is six months or so, then you somewhat are probably dropping a while. inspite of the undeniable fact that, i got here upon that my newborn might tend to bite extra so whilst they have been falling asleep jointly as nursing and in certainty bit to maintain the nipple of their mouth. nicely, as a manner to maintain that fom occurring, as quickly as I observed the drowsiness, i might swap breasts and burp them, which the flow of the repositioning, might quickly wake them from their lull and get them to nurse for say yet another ten to fifteen minutes, thereby ensuring an entire feeding, a good nap, and no bitten breasts. in the experience that your newborn is older and totally conscious jointly as biting, then which you need to to unlatch them and such as you mentioned, exhibit soreness, and then attempt lower back. Unlatching is somewhat effectual, regardless of in case you do no longer say something, because of the fact infants are extremely clever and could study that biting and nursing do no longer mixture. Oh, you additionally could have the prefer to confirm that your newborn isn't bored in nursing, as this could additionally reason biting; its your toddler telling you that they are accomplished nursing. advantages to you and your toddler.......

My baby has yet to teeth, but I have read that every time he bites, take him off and firmly say no. He should learn that if he bites the feed stops. It may take a little while, but it's worth a shot.

My baby did that once he started getting teeth and the method of pulling and stopping and showing him that, no more, will definitely show them this isn;t going to work..Once I did that he stopped completely. And, yes that hurts terribly, put some cabbage on it to sooth the pain, just slip some in your bra, it really works and feels great. Good luck!

It may be time to stop, he is probably starting to teeth. Give him toys, teething toys, soft rubber toys and try beef jerky and crackers.

Why would anyone want to continue breast feeding while going through pain? I just don't get it. Pump and feed him by bottle.
