Have you reviewed the requirements to be admitted into a nursing program? For example, the my county's community college does not directly admit the student into the nursing program without meeting certain requirements. For example, it requires 2 units of science (1 year each of chemistry and biology) and 2 units of mathematics (1 year unit must be algebra). An alternative could be going for your LPN or licensed practical nurse and then go for your RN degree. There are employers within the health care community that will help some with college tuition. Good luck!

They should not turn you down. But in most of the programs you have to take some pre-requisites before you can apply to the nursing program. So your gpa in your pre-requisites are more important than your high school gpa.

since you have been away from education for so long, they would care about what you have been doing since than, and if you have had any educational type stuff they can evaluate you in, they will probably tell you take some required basic classes at a community college so they can have something to evaluate you in
